During the first half of 2016, community workers from USAID’s Land Access for Women (LAW) Program provided legal advice on land-related issues to more than 2,400 people in Long An and Hung Yen provinces in the resolution of nearly 360 cases.
On July 19-22, the Ministry of Finance (MOF) General Department of Taxation and the USAID Governance for Inclusive Growth (GIG) program completed field visits to map current procedures and challenges to the value-added tax, corporate income tax, personal income tax, and the administration of invoices.

On July 17, USAID’s Sustainable Management of the HIV/AIDS Response and Transition to Technical Assistance (SMART TA) project, in conjunction with the Blue Sky Men MSM network, the Vietnam Association of People Living with HIV (VNP+), and the Ho Chi Minh City AIDS Control Center launched a public HIV testing event for MSM and transgender people (TG).
The Vietnamese and U.S. governments launched a new U.S.-Vietnam Partnership to Combat Wildlife Trafficking (the Partnership) during U.S. President Obama’s historic visit to Vietnam on June 23-25.
