During the first half of 2016, community workers from USAID’s Land Access for Women (LAW) Program provided legal advice on land-related issues to more than 2,400 people in Long An and Hung Yen provinces in the resolution of nearly 360 cases.
On July 19-22, the Ministry of Finance (MOF) General Department of Taxation and the USAID Governance for Inclusive Growth (GIG) program completed field visits to map current procedures and challenges to the value-added tax, corporate income tax, personal income tax, and the administration of invoices.
On July 21, with support from USAID’s Sustainable Management of the HIV/AIDS Response and Transition to Technical Assistance (SMART TA) project, the Tuan Giao District Health Center (DHC) in Dien Bien province organized an experience sharing workshop on social health insurance (SHI) implementation and electronic health information system (eHIS) integration for SHI reimbursement and program reporting.
On July 17, USAID’s Sustainable Management of the HIV/AIDS Response and Transition to Technical Assistance (SMART TA) project, in conjunction with the Blue Sky Men MSM network, the Vietnam Association of People Living with HIV (VNP+), and the Ho Chi Minh City AIDS Control Center launched a public HIV testing event for MSM and transgender people (TG).
Through the announcement made on May 22 during U.S. President Obama’s historic visit to Vietnam, Vietnam and the U.S. agreed to a partnership to work together to implement the historic Paris Agreement.
