USAID’s Vietnam Forests and Deltas (VFD) Program, in collaboration with the Southern Institute for Water Resources Research and provincial departments, completed a comprehensive analysis of more than 500 ponds in Long An. In the 1990s, Long An province excavated large areas that were used to build up settlement areas in higher elevations to avoid flooding.
Since 2006, the USAID Supply Chain Management System (SCMS) Project has worked with the Vietnam’s Ministry of Health to improve the national HIV/AIDS response by providing a reliable, cost effective and secure supply of medicines.
From August 15-18, USAID’s Accessibility for Inclusion project organized an exchange in Hanoi for provincial government officials from Tay Ninh and Binh Dinh as well as disabled persons organizations to learn about good practices in disability physical accessibilities.
A group of 11 senior officials from the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Ministry of Planning and Investment, the Ministry of Finance, and the Ministry of Justice have just completed a study tour to several U.S. agencies (including the U.S. Trade Representative Office) and private groups to learn first-hand from the U.S. Government’s experiences implementing free trade commitments and other legal and regulatory reforms.
The USAID-funded Vietnam Forests and Deltas Program (VFD) has developed and tested livelihood models to assist with food security and increasing incomes for farmers.
