USAID supports the Government of Peru’s National Strategy for Combating Drugs by providing alternatives to coca cultivation and strengthening Peruvian capacity confront drug mafias. This model has been enormously successful and has lifted thousands of rural Peruvian families out of poverty by shifting them away from coca cultivation.

USAID Deputy Mission Director Erik Janowsky attended the opening ceremony of the Sixth Edition of Expocafé Perú, which kicked off at the Parque de la Exposición.
Leaders from the communities of El Tambo Huancaya, Junin, along with academic, governmental and private sector representatives visited the organic farm "Harvest of the Future".
Expo-Alimentaria was held in Lima. This is the biggest food trade fair in Latin America showcasing products from Food & Beverage, Meat, Poultry & Seafood industries.
