Mission Director

Derrick S. Brown was sworn in as the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) Mission Director for Angola in November 2016.

As a Senior Foreign Service Officer holding the rank of Counselor, Mr.Brown brings to the position more than 20 years of development experience. Most recently, he served as USAID Deputy Mission Director in Indonesia for three years and Acting Mission Director for nearly a year. He also served as Director of Financial Management in Afghanistan, one of USAID’s largest programs worldwide. Prior to that, he served in Botswana, Tanzania, Mozambique, Ghana, and the Dominican Republic.

Mr. Brown earned his Bachelor of Science from Alabama State University and a Master of Science from the University of Maryland.
