First HIV Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP) Training in Vietnam

Monday, November 21, 2016

On November 10-11, the USAID Healthy Markets project, in collaboration with HCMC Provincial AIDS Committee and the USAID Enhanced Community HIV Link - Southern Project, conducted a training on pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) for community-based organizations (CBOs) and other agencies. The training  was for the upcoming pilot delivery of PrEP services to key populations, including men who have sex with men, transgender women and HIV-discordant couples. The training took place in HCMC, with 33 representatives from five CBOs, two clinics, and four outpatient clinics. The course equipped participants with the knowledge and skills needed to engage in the PrEP pilot, including eligibility criteria and procedures for follow-up. The PrEP pilot will begin in December 2016 and provide PrEP services as part of a combination strategy to prevent HIV.
