USAID Enables Local Organizations to Better Address Vietnam’s Development Problems

Thursday, August 24, 2017

USAID’s Partner Capacity Development (PCD) program is working with approximately 15 Vietnamese non-governmental organizations (VNGOs) to build their human and institutional capacity. Over the last 12 months, the program improved the capacity of these organizations through providing a series of trainings on topics such as financial management, human resources, organizational monitoring and evaluation, and fundraising. On August 16-19, a training in this series on the topic of “Project Design and Management” attracted 30 representatives from VNGOs including those representing vulnerable groups in Vietnam such as persons with disabilities, LGBTI, blind and deaf groups. So what? This series of trainings will help VNGOs be ready to bid for, receive and manage USAID and other donor funding, enabling them to be more effective in addressing Vietnam’s development problems. Local organizations are often more sustainable, know the development landscape better, and are more cost efficient than international entities.
