Since 2015, USAID’s Governance for Inclusive Growth (GIG) Project has worked with the Central Institute for Economic Management (CIEM), the General Department of Vietnam Customs (GDVC), and the Ministry of Justice (MOJ) Administrative Procedure Control Agency to revise Circular 07/2012/TT-BCT.  This circular sets energy efficiency labeling requirements for importing electrical  equipment, such as electric fans,  refrigerators, and printers. Consultations with businesses revealed that the administrative procedures were burdensome and created excessive costs for importers.

The International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) in collaboration with Bhaya Group, Coca-Cola Beverages Vietnam Ltd., and the Ha Long City People’s Committee today organized a coastal clean-up called “Alliance’s action for a Green Ha Long” as part of the Ha Long-Cat Ba Alliance, a three-year initiative financed by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID).

On December 8, the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations (VUSTA)recognized the Ha Long - Cat Ba Alliance sustainable aquaculture and responsible tourism demonstration site as an “Excellent Sustainable Development Model of 2016.”  USAID local implementing partner, the Center for Marinelife Conservation and Community Development (MCD), received the award for the USAID-funded demonstration site in Vung Vieng, Ha Long Bay.

To improve HIV testing and counseling (HTC) within hospitals and strengthen referral linkages to support those with positive test results, the USAID Sustainable HIV Response from Transition Assistance (SHIFT) Project conducted four provider-initiated HIV-testing and counseling training workshops with the Provincial AIDS Centers of Ho Chi Minh City (October 25-28), Dien Bien (November 29-30), and Nghe An (December 6-9).  A total of 123 participants representing 35 health facilities attended.  The purpose of the HTC training initiative is to bolster HIV testing and referrals in hospital setti
