Since 2014, the USAID-supported Ha Long - Cat Ba Alliance has brought together government, business and community leaders to  preserve and protect Ha Long Bay, one of Vietnam’s most popular tourist destinations. On August 29-30, the Alliance collaborated with private partners to organize the third “Action for A Green Ha Long” event.  Over 100 volunteers collected more than two tons of trash on four beaches in the Bay.

On Aug 29-30, USAID Vietnam Low Emission Energy Program together with the USAID Clean Power Asia organized the workshop "Developing, Financing, and Investing in Solar PV Projects in Lower Mekong Countries" in Ho Chi Minh City. More than 160 participants, including developers, investors, policy makers, and financial institutions gathered to share experiences and challenges to developing bankable solar power projects.

Vietnam is facing two massive challenges in its fight against HIV – achieving HIV epidemic control and doing so with rapidly declining external donor funding. Overcoming these challenges requires reaching and treating people living with HIV (PLHIV) as efficiently as possible. The USAID Sustainable HIV Response from Technical Assistance (SHIFT) Project recently trained representatives of Blue Sky Club, a civil society group based in Ho Chi Minh City, to counsel every diagnosed PLHIV on the importance of getting HIV treatment and making treatment services accessible to the men-who-have-sex-with-men community.
