On September 08, USAID’s Governance for Inclusive Growth Program supported a dialogue between the Ministry of Health, other relevant ministries, business associations, and the media to discuss the simplification of administrative procedures and improvement of food safety mechanisms in order to revise Decree 38 on food safety protection. Facilitated by the Central Institute for Economic Management (CIEM), and chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam, the workshop focused on food safety administrative procedures managed by the Ministry of Health, which are currently inefficient, costly for businesses, and insufficient to ensure food safety. So what? The simplification of food safety procedures helps improve the business environment while supporting consumer concerns and the implementation of Resolution 19 ― Vietnam’s central policy to enhance private sector competitiveness.
