The South African Minister of International Relations and Cooperation, Maite Nkoana-Mashabane, hosted the United States Secretary of State Hillary Clinton for the second meeting of the South Africa-United States of America Strategic Dialogue on 7 August 2012 at DIRCO's OR Tambo Building in Pretoria. Building on our shared democratic values, the Strategic Dialogue seeks to strengthen and expand economic and scientific engagements, improve coordination on public health and education, and discuss global security challenges.

November 3rd marks the 50th anniversary of U.S. President John F. Kennedy’s creation of the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID). Whether it is vaccinating children against preventable diseases, improving crop yields, or responding to disasters, USAID has been a quiet force for progress not only in South Africa, but 100 other countries, fostering a more peaceful and secure world.

JOHANNESBURG - The South African Supplier Diversity Council (SASDC) and U.S. National Minority Supplier Development Council (NMSDC) have signed an affiliation agreement formalizing a global link between the Councils at an event held at one of its corporate members’ offices, Barloworld in Sandton.

Hundreds of community members and stakeholders from across the eThekwini district packed into the Wentworth Community Hall, where they were inspired by video clips of fellow residents sharing brave and inspiring stories of their actions to prevent violence against women. The event, held on Friday 19 August, was hosted by the Prevention In Action (PIA) social movement and marked a decisive moment in the movement to change attitudes and responses of the public towards the abuse of women.

HIV testing

HIVSA - an NGO (nongovernmental organisation) working in Soweto is “over the moon” with the uptake of its HIV Counselling and Testing (HCT) community campaign.

HIVSA, supported by the Provincial Department of Health Gauteng and the Anova Health Institute, have tested more than 30,000 individuals since they started their community testing campaign in October 2010. Approximately 3,000 individuals per month were tested for HIV and screened for TB. This initiative is in support of the National Department of Health HCT campaign.
