120 secondary school students from all over Kyrgyzstan participated in summer camps in Osh and Issyk-Kul in August to learn critical thinking, leadership skills, teamwork, civic values, and community engagement. The camps included innovative, interactive activities such as educational games, role plays, and multimedia training to provide youth opportunities to learn both how to lead and to work as a team for the good of their communities. These annual camps are hosted by the International Foundation for Electoral Systems (IFES) with the support of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).

In 2012, USAID through the Eurasia Foundation of Central Asia (EFCA) launched a two-year “Women`s Peace Banks” program to provide opportunities for women in the South of Kyrgyzstan in taking the lead in interethnic reconciliation and in promoting the role of women in peace building at the local level. The Program has been implemented in Osh and Jalal-Abad. During the program EFCA organized 16 Women’s Initiative Groups in Osh and Jalal-Abad that select social development projects proposed by local residents. EFCA provided small grants to the Initiative Groups and helped them find required co-financing for their projects from local authorities, private companies or other sources. This document is the performance evaluation of the project.
