The United States has partnered with the Government of Kenya for 50 years to improve the lives of Kenya’s children. Today, the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) continued that support by launching the Inuka Community-Based Orphans and Vulnerable Children Project. The Inuka Project is a USAID and Ananda Marga Universal Relief Team partnership to provide for the care and support of 11,000 orphans and vulnerable children in Siaya County.

Wezesha Project is a USAID partnership with Kenyan organization Lifeskills Promoters, and its partners, St Johns’ Community Center and Christian Partnership on AIDS in Kenya, which coordinates the care of 20,000 orphans and vulnerable children in Homa Bay, Kisii, and Migori Counties.
USAID awarded a grant to KUSCCO as part of an open competition for innovative solutions to overcome distribution and financing bottlenecks in the Kenyan cook stove sector, two key constraints to growth noted in recent market assessments by Winrock and the Global Alliance for Clean Cook stoves. KUSCCO supports a network of 1,350 member SACCOs that will provide credit to their individual members seeking to purchase cook stoves.

Godec joined the Cabinet Secretary of Kenya’s Ministry of Health James Macharia to mark World Tuberculosis Day by launching the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) TB Accelerated Response and Care activity. The U.S. Government works with the Government of Kenya and local partners to prevent and control tuberculosis (TB) in Kenya. USAID is investing Ksh 3.5 billion ($38M) in the TB Accelerated Response and Care activity to expand access to quality TB services in all 47 Kenyan counties and for all forms of TB.
The U.S. Embassy invites media to join the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) Assistant Administrator for Global Health, Dr. Ariel Pablos-Méndez, on a tour of Maai Mahiu Health Centre and Naivasha County Hospital, Nakuru County. Dr. Pablos-Méndez will hand over maternal and child health commodities to Kenya’s Cabinet Secretary, Ministry of Health.

USAID Associate Administrator Mark Feierstein and Assistant Administrator for Africa Earl Gast met with produce farmers and exporters who are working with the Kenya Agricultural Research Institute (KARI) to transform the FPEAK’s Practical Training Center into a central one-stop-shop for horticulture information. Through the U.S. Government’s Feed the Future initiative, USAID has invested $950,000 in the training center to expose farmers to practical ways of successfully growing all types of horticultural produce, with a special emphasis on compliance with export requirements.
USAID Kenya is helping communities in Northern Kenya build resilience in the face of climate change and other potential shocks.
