The U.S. Embassy has announced the launch of niShowPower, a new youth voter registration and information campaign. niShowPower (“show me your power”) encourages Kenyan young people to take part in their democracy by registering to vote and pledging to refrain from violence. The campaign will kick off with a free concert at the University of Nairobi’s Chancellor’s Court from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Sunday, May 15. Top Kenyan artists Juliani, Khaligraph Jones, Octopizzo, Sarabi, and Sauti Sol will play free of charge to support this important initiative.
Kenya is taking a bold stand against wildlife crime through improved enforcement action, higher penalties for wildlife criminals and last year it was the only African range State to report a significant fall in the numbers of rhinos poached.
Nairobi, February 18, 2016 -- Kenyan national and county officials, representatives of international donors and private corporations today launched two projects worth some KShs 8.5 billion to make safe water available to an additional 1.5 million Kenyans. In conjunction, a quarter of million Kenyans also will also benefit from targeted nutrition education. The result will be healthier and more prosperous communities across the country.

Wildlife management and protection in East Africa will get a boost through a $4.6 million partnership between USAID Missions and the U.S. Department of the Interior (DOI). The joint effort will significantly advance efforts to combat transnational wildlife crime in Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, and other countries in the region.
Five new research projects will advance the cause of wildlife protection in Kenya, international donors announced. The $1.5 million projects are intended to improve capacity in ecosystem management, law enforcement, and prosecution, to promote wildlife conservation and combat wildlife poaching and trafficking to preserve Kenya's natural biodiversity.
NAIROBI, Friday, April 24, 2015 -- In a significant effort to scale up Kenya's fight against wildlife crime, public- and private-sector partners have joined forces to address dangerously high levels of poaching and trafficking. In a two-day workshop, representatives of government, non-governmental organizations and the private sector identified targeted, practical interventions to fortify wildlife laws and policies and enhance a range of community and law-enforcement initiatives.
Kenyan non-profit non-governmental organization Act Change Transform (Act!), in partnership with the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) and the Embassy of Sweden today officially commissioned the newly restored Kipsigon Health Center, which had been destroyed during the 2006-2008 conflicts, and the new Chepyuk Community Water Project.
