Launched January 2015, the Emerging Pandemic Threats 2 (EPT-2) program builds on and extends the successes of USAID’s EPT-1 and Avian Influenza programs in disease prevention, surveillance, training, and outbreak response.

The U.S Agency for International Development (USAID) will offer funding through its Partnerships for Enhanced Engagement in Research (PEER) program for Indonesian scientists to conduct joint research with U.S. scientists. USAID is especially soliciting research proposals in two topics: (1) strengthening science, technology, engineering and math education at both secondary and university levels; and (2) causes and consequences of biodiversity loss, especially scientific research needed to inform policies on wildlife trafficking. Applications are open on October 3, 2016 and concept notes are due January 13, 2017.

The United States and the Indonesian Ministry of Research, Technology, and Higher Education (RISTEK DIKTI) held an event today to celebrate advancements in higher education in Indonesia over the past five years. Approximately 150 people attended the event including honored guests RISTEK DIKTI Directorate General of Institutional Development Dr. Patdono Suwignjo, United States Chargé d'Affaires Brian McFeeters, and United States Agency for International Development (USAID) Mission Director Erin McKee.

The U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) announced approximately $1 million in grants through the Partnerships for Enhanced Engagement in Research (PEER) program for six research partnerships between Indonesian and American scientists. The research will address research questions in topics such as climate change mitigation, infectious disease, and science education.
