In close collaboration with the Provincial AIDS Centers (PAC), USAID’s Sustainable Management of the HIV/AIDS Response and Transition to Technical Assistance (SMART TA) project is implementing the Pass-it-On model to better identify potential cases of HIV in priority provinces. The model works by involving key population members, who already receive HIV testing and treatment, to refer high-risk members of their networks for HIV testing and counseling. In May 2016, the project trained 38 individuals in Nghe An and Dien Bien provinces, who have to date shared 162 referral slips, resulting in 53 individuals accessing HIV testing and counseling and two new positive cases being identified.
