USAID Support Ensures Uninterrupted HIV Treatment for Pediatric Patients in Vietnam

Currently, the Vietnam Authority for AIDS Control (VAAC) procures pediatric antiretroviral (ARV) medications with support from the Global Fund.  However, unforeseen budget planning obstacles combined with a significant increase in pediatric patients created a potentially serious shortage of pediatric ARV medications in early 2018. Working to avert this shortage, USAID’s Global Health Supply Chain-Procurement and Supply Management Project rapidly responded to VAAC’s needs, helping them forecast and procure a one-time order for pediatric ARVs. So What? USAID’s rapid response helped prevent a shortage of essential pediatric ARV medications and ensured uninterrupted HIV treatment for thousands of pediatric patients
