USAID Helps Vietnam Understand Provinces Health Spending Better

Thursday, August 31, 2017

Obtaining national and provincial health spending data has been difficult, slowing down health policy development with accurate data. The Vietnamese Government would like to change this situation. With support from USAID’s Health Finance and Governance Project, Vietnam’s Ministry of Health has successfully completed analyses of national and provincial data for five pilot provinces, including Hanoi, Can Tho, Nghe An, Ho Chi Minh City and Khanh Hoa, for 2014 and 2015. An HIV/AIDS sub-component has also been included in this analysis.  So What? Making this data available for analysis helps public officials manage health sector expenditure and provide an important evidence-based tool to inform Vietnam’s domestic financing and coordination of the HIV/AIDS response.
