The USAID Vietnam Forests and Deltas Program (VFD) is working with the Vietnam Academy of Water Resources (VAWR) to conduct a strategic review of the results and challenges of implementing Vietnam’s Water Resources Development Strategy from 2009-2015. This review included a comprehensive assessment of capacity building for management, technology development programs, human resources development programs, rural water and sanitation programs, climate change adaptation, and disaster risk reduction efforts. As part of the review, VFD is conducting a series of regional consultation workshops. In these workshops, participants from the Water Resources Directorate, VAWR, Water Resources University, and other stakeholders discuss the strategy to capture key issues and priorities for the next strategy for 2016-2020, and improving water management to 2050.
