USAID’s Avansa Agrikultura Project aims to encourage the sustainability of and ultimately the increased development of the horticulture value chain in Timor-Leste. However, sustainability can only be achieved if young people become actively involved in the agriculture sector. USAID’s Avansa Agrikultura Project is working to promote agriculture activities among young people living in Aileu, Ainaro, Bobonaro, Ermera and Dili. As part of this initiative USAID’s Avansa Agrikulura Project has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Office of the Secretary of State for Youth and Sports which solidifies the collaboration and cooperation, and highlights their strong shared interest, to work together on promoting the agriculture sector among youth.
USAID’s Avansa Agrikultura Project aims to accelerate sustainable economic growth in the agriculture sector. In doing so the project is launching an extra-curricular school nutrition garden program targeting junior high school students in their second year (11-15 years of age) in the municipalities of Aileu, Ainaro, Bobonaro, Ermera, and Dili.
The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) awarded its new elections and parliamentary strengthening project in Timor-Leste on July 1, 2016. USAID welcomes its new partner of the Consortium for Elections and Political Process Strengthening (CEPPS), who will implement USAID’s Strengthening Inclusive Elections and Political Processes Project over the next three years (June 1, 2016 to May 31, 2019).
USAID’s Ba Distrito project today launched a research report about community level dispute resolution in Timor-Leste, examining the methods and procedures used, and the impact it has on the community’s access to justice. The report was launched at Hotel Ramelau in Aimutin, Dili.
