Proper hygiene promotes good health. The Municipal Services Program (MSP) works in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Sindh provinces to upgrade the drinking water and sanitation systems, improve management and service delivery systems, and create public awareness campaigns on good hygiene habits.
USAID is partnering with the Government of Pakistan to rehabilitate the Mangla hydroelectric power station located in the Mirpur District of Azad Kashmir. The main objective of the project is to add 90 MW to the national grid through the refurbishment and upgradation of the power plant which will improve the reliability and availability of this power plant for the next 2025 years.
The Women's Hostel Project supports the construction of a new women's dormitory at Forman Christian College in Lahore. The new women's hostel provides 384 additional beds, thus permitting the university to accept more women students, especially at the graduate level.
U.S. Consul General Lahore, Zachary Harkenrider and the CEO of the Gujranwala Electric Power Company Zahoor Ahmed Chohan inaugurated a new state-of-the-art Power Distribution Center today. The center has been established with support from the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) to automate the monitoring and management of power flow throughout the network. This upgrade has dramatically reduced the incidents of unscheduled load shedding throughout Pakistan.
The Agricultural Innovation Program is helping USAID meet its goal of improving the economic lives of citizens by improving the productivity of farm enterprises through research and dissemination of innovative, improved technology.
