USAID’s partner, the National Democratic Institute for International Affairs (NDI) launched its new Arabic-language e-learning and training platform TaalamSharek.org, or “learn-engage” in English in March 2016.

The International Foundation for the Electoral System (IFES) recently concluded a 4-day workshop for Libyan Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) with the aim of familiarizing them on Electoral Campaign Finance Monitoring (CFM). The workshop focused on International Best Practices regulating CFM while helping the CSOs develop a methodological framework which would enable them to observe the electoral cycle in Libya. Ad hoc tools to effectively monitor political contributions and spending were also discussed.

With the support of USAID and its partner, the International Foundation for Electoral Systems (IFES), Libya’s High National Election Commission (HNEC) launched the first handicapped-accessible website in Libya. This new website is expected to help people with disabilities stay updated and pave the way for improving the inclusion of this minority community in the electoral process.

In 2015, USAID convened a four-day gathering of representatives from Libyan disabled people's organizations (DPOs), in Djerba, Tunisia, to develop a strategy for increased inclusion and accessibility in Libya's electoral process.

To establish effective practices for sub national governance. IRI is helping ensure that local government is informed by, and inclusive of, citizen concerns. In addition, IRI supports Libyan municipal council members in fulfilling their roles and responsibilities while engaging in sound policy making. IRI is supporting the Ministry of Local Government to establish effective structures for intra-governmental communication, administrative functions, training, and service delivery. Finally, in an effort to increase the role of marginalized groups in Libya’s governance, IRI engages youth leaders to advocate for issues in their communities.
