USAID’s partner, the National Democratic Institute for International Affairs (NDI) launched its new Arabic-language e-learning and training platform TaalamSharek.org, or “learn-engage” in English in March 2016.
Redesigned with support from the National Endowment for Democracy (NED), this platform, which is mobile-friendly, represents a new era in online engagement in Libya and among democracy advocates in the Middle East and North Africa.
The new platform allows citizens to build their civic and political skills on topics such as campaign planning, elections, citizen participation, governance, and long-term political party development.
The site’s resources are free and available in a wide array of formats including video, script, audio, worksheet, and publication, allowing the content to be more accessible to persons with disabilities, and ensuring that local trainers are better equipped to teach these new skills to members of their community or political party.
This new site design is anticipated to be even more popular than the old site that was accessed by more than 58,113 users in Libya. Libyan users initiated more than 108,660 learning sessions, viewed more than 142,752 pages of content, downloaded more than 2,864 educational manuals and exercises and viewed 18,967 minutes of educational video online.
