Wildlife management and protection in East Africa will get a boost through a $4.6 million partnership between USAID Missions and the U.S. Department of the Interior (DOI). The joint effort will significantly advance efforts to combat transnational wildlife crime in Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, and other countries in the region.
Five new research projects will advance the cause of wildlife protection in Kenya, international donors announced. The $1.5 million projects are intended to improve capacity in ecosystem management, law enforcement, and prosecution, to promote wildlife conservation and combat wildlife poaching and trafficking to preserve Kenya's natural biodiversity.
On July 1, 2013, President Obama announced a major initiative to improve U.S.-Africa trade. The Trade Africa Initiative supports greater U.S.-Africa trade and investment, regional integration, and trade competitiveness.
