I am very pleased to be here today to express on behalf of the U.S. government and the American people, our continued assistance to the efforts by the people of the greater south as they continue to recover from the devastation caused by hurricane Matthew six months ago.
Six months following the passage of Hurricane Matthew, American Embassy Chargé d’Affaires, Brian Shukan, traveled to southern Haiti to assess USAID hurricane response and recovery activities.
By forming local partnerships, USAID not only makes its work more effective, but inherently more sustainable and reduces the need for foreign aid over time.
