Health service delivery in Ethiopia is characterized an inadequate number of well-trained health providers, limited health infrastructure and shortages of finance, equipment, and supplies. We are committed to improving health systems by strengthening human resources, expanding health financing options, and increasing health commodity and essential drug availability. We also work to strengthen policy, governance, and evidence-based decision making to improve health systems.
Activities Include
-
Health Sector Financing Reform: Enhance the quality of equitable access to essential health services through reform and institutionalization of a sustainable health financing and system that accommodates alternative financing and expands risk sharing mechanisms through community based health insurance.
-
Leadership, Management and Governance: Strengthen health management systems and promote harmonized and accredited in-service training for Ethiopian health workforce.
-
Pharmaceutical Supply Management: Establish a safe, secure, reliable and sustainable supply chain management system to procure, store and distribute pharmaceuticals and other products needed to provide care and treatment of disease of public health importance.
- Strengthening Human Resources for Health: Address health workforce shortages and improve the quality of pre-service education, in- service training and governance system for human resources management.
