In the last few years, Ethiopians have dramatically increased their use of modern family planning contraceptives. Building on this new momentum, we work to improve the health of mothers, neonates, children, adolescents and youth by decreasing unintended and teenage pregnancies. In addition to improving access to family planning services and contraceptives, we also support strengthening the capacity of these programs through community mobilization as well as detection, referral, treatment and reintegration of fistula cases.

Activities include

  • Central Contraceptive ProcurementEnsure access to and availability of modern contraceptives by procuring contraceptives for the Integrated Family Health Project service delivery network in public health facilities

  • Program Research for Strengthening Services IIWork closely with the Government of Ethiopia to increase skills in monitoring and evaluating family planning initiatives.

  • Increasing Access to Voluntary Surgical Contraception: Increase access to voluntary and quality family planning services with a focus on permanent methods and provide training to government providers through 10 mobile/outreach teams.
