Today, U.S. Embassy Chargé d’Affaires Marc Sievers toured the Museum of Islamic Art and Dar al-Kutub to see firsthand the damage resulting from the January 24 bomb attack in Bab al Khalq.  He announced a LE 1 million grant from the U.S. Government to assist with urgent needs in the early recovery phase.

Forty nine Egyptian engineers completed internships with the Egyptian Group for Engineering Consultation (EGEC) through a two-year project funded by a grant from the U.S. Government.  Of the first cohort of interns, 85 percent have already found gainful employment in Egypt and internationally.

The U.S. Government, in collaboration with the Luxor Tourism School, celebrated the launch of the school’s new employment and training units today.  The units will increase students’ chances of finding fulfilling careers upon graduation.

In a keynote speech today at the ALROWAD conference for small and medium enterprises in Egypt, the United States confirmed its commitment to helping Egypt's economy succeed.  Over the past two years, USAID grantee ALROWAD has launched professional communities that work with businesses to improve their skills, increase revenue, create jobs, and use technology to grow their businesses.

Aswan – Over 35 teams of entrepreneurs participated in the Aswan Startup Weekend competition on November 14, 15, and 16 as part of the United States’ contribution to International Global Entrepreneurship Week. 

“USAID believes in the importance of entrepreneurship and innovation in driving Egypt's economy forward,” said Mary C. Ott, Mission Director of USAID in Egypt. “We have helped thousands of aspiring entrepreneurs turn their ideas into action and are determined to add support that will assist thousands more.”
