ABIDJAN— On Friday, June 17, 2016 the Ambassador of the United States, Terence P. McCulley and the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Abdallah Albert Toikeusse Mabri, signed a modification to two Limited Scope Grant Agreements which increased the U.S Government’s commitment to support Côte d'Ivoire to achieve its development goals.
These agreements represent a commitment from the U.S. Government through the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) which raised its engagement to more than $140 million over a multi-year period. The funds are divided between the health sector which accounts for a $100 million investment and an investment of $40 million for good governance and democracy. The Government of Côte d'Ivoire has also committed to an in-kind or cash contribution towards these goals which are complementary to the National Development Plan of Côte d'Ivoire 2016-2020.
During his remarks, Ambassador McCulley said “Together, we are determined to invest our resources to increase regional security, democracy, good governance, justice, the prevention of infectious and emerging diseases, good family planning, and to ensure a generation without AIDS.”
“The results of our initiatives will contribute toward a sustainable and inclusive development for all Ivoirians.” he added.
