Full inclusion of women from across society is critical to U.S. foreign policy objectives and imperative for the economic growth and stability of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH).
Youth are an enormous resource for development and a key component for peace and stability in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH). Decisions they make and opportunities they have for education, training, employment, and civic participation will affect their country’s development outcome for years to come. But youth face significant challenges to participating in democratic and economic processes in BiH. USAID supports BiH youth from different ethnic backgrounds through a spectrum of activities to engage them in developing their communities and country.
To date, USAID/BiH has leveraged more than $90 million from other donors, including the countries of Sweden, Norway, Germany, Italy, the UK, the Netherlands and the Czech Republic. USAID/BiH has used three main types of donor partnerships: (1) donor resources transferred to a USAID-managed project; (2) parallel funding to a shared effort managed separately; and (3) USAID funding to a project managed by another donor. These collaborations created strong models for USAID to replicate worldwide.
USAID/Bosnia-Herzegovina is accepting applications for grants to increase participation of people with disabilities (PWDs) in USAID/Bosnia-Herzegovina projects and activities and to strengthen the capacities of disabled people’s organizations (DPOs).
