USAID Assistant Administrator Thomas O. Melia Travels to the Balkans

WASHINGTON, D.C. - U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) Assistant Administrator for Europe and Eurasia Thomas O. Melia will travel to Kosovo, Macedonia, and Bosnia and Herzegovina March 1 to March 9, 2016. This will be Assistant Administrator Melia's first visit to the Balkan region in his capacity as Assistant Administrator. 
 
On this trip, Melia will meet with government officials, civil society leaders, and the private sector to discuss how U.S. assistance is responding to each country's development and economic challenges. These meetings will focus on USAID's ongoing efforts to support each country's Euro-Atlantic integration by strengthening democracies and the management of economic and social institutions. Specific topics will include the fight against corruption, strategies for assuring each country's energy requirements, and the ongoing crisis with respect to migrants and refugees.
