During an official ceremony on January 27, NASDAQ OMX Armenia marked the successful launch of the first securitized bond issuance in Armenia and announced the listing of these bonds at the stock exchange for the secondary market trade. This landmark transaction was made possible through the joint efforts of USAID, Capital Investments, and universal credit organizations.

Yerevan, Armenia – The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and the Smithsonian Institution have partnered for an innovative project to support cultural sustainability through cultural tourism in Armenia. The project was launched on November 20 at an official ceremony at the Matenadaran Scientific Research Institute of Ancient Manuscripts in Yerevan, which holds one of the world’s richest collections of medieval manuscripts and books. About 130 community leaders, local council members, government officials and representatives of local and international organizations came together in snowy Jermuk on November 10 for the Fifth Annual Congress of Rural Communities. The event, which was symbolically held on the Local Government Day, marked the 19th anniversary of the local government system in Armenia. Conference topics included agriculture, rural tourism, and inclusive growth in the regions of the country.
The head of USAID Armenia Karen Hilliard participated in the 4th Annual International Pension Conference, held in Yerevan, Armenia on November 9. During the event, ongoing social security reforms, including the implementation of the country’s new pension system (that goes into full effect in January 2017) and the introduction of the integrated social services system, were summarized.
Over 100 professionals from financial and government institutions of the country, and representatives from Ukraine, Belarus, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Georgia and Russia attended the conference.
On October 30, 2015, the Center for Agribusiness and Rural Development Foundation held the official opening ceremony of the new Farm and Veterinary Service Center in Vardenis, Gegharkunik.
Aparan, Aragatsotn – On November 7, the USAID-funded Clean Energy and Water Program (CEWP) conducted a community workshop in Aparan, following the completion of a street-lighting improvement project in the town. The purpose of the community workshop was to disseminate the positive results of the project and present the energy and cost benefits of energy efficient lighting technologies to participants, including community leaders, representatives of private firms and public organizations from both Aparan and neighboring communities.
Yerevan, Armenia – Partners from Armenia, Georgia, Greece, and Turkey marked the official trans-regional opening of the Black Sea Silk Road Corridor at a public event in Yerevan on November 7. This was the first of the four inter-regional launches; others will take place in Akhaltsikhe (Georgia), Istanbul (Turkey), and Thessalonica (Greece).
