Yerevan, Armenia – On May 7, the USAID-funded Tax Reform Project held a public presentation of the results of the Taxpayers’ Perception Survey 2013. Conducted by the Caucasus Research Resource Center (CRRC) Armenia between September and December 2013, the survey targeted 1,448 households, 400 taxpayer organizations and individual entrepreneurs in all regions of Armenia.

Lukashin, Armenia – On April 25, the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), VivaCell-MTS telecommunications company, and the Foundation for the Preservation of Wildlife and Cultural Assets (FPWC) announced the launch of water supply projects that will improve access to drinking water in four Armenian communities– Berkaber in Tavush province, and Haykavan, Arazap and Lukashin in Armavir province. The projects will be implemented as part of the joint agreement, signed by the three partners in March 2014.

Yerevan, Armenia – The National Gallery of Armenia hosted on April 4 the Best Woman Entrepreneur award ceremony. The event is held annually under the auspices of the Prime Minister of Armenia Tigran Sargsyan with the aim of inspiring and encouraging women entrepreneurs in Armenia. This year the event was supported by the USAID-funded Partnerships for Rural Prosperity Program, implemented by the SME Development National Center of Armenia (SME DNC).

WASHINGTON, D.C. - The U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) Administrator Rajiv Shah announced on April 3 the establishment of the U.S. Global Development Lab at an event in New York City. The launch event featured a keynote address by former U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton, who has been a strong supporter of the use of science, innovation, and partnerships to further U.S development goals.

Yerevan, Armenia – On March 18, the USAID Clean Energy and Water Program (CEWP) presented to water sector stakeholders the findings of the Study of Groundwater Resources in the Ararat Valley, Armenia. Participants included Deputy Prime Minister/Minister of Territorial Administration Armen Gevorgyan, Head of USAID/Armenia Karen Hilliard, officials from the Ministries of Nature Protection, Agriculture, Energy and Natural Resources, as well as representatives of the regional governments of Ararat and Armavir provinces, the Armenian National Assembly, and sector related scientific institutions.

Yerevan, Armenia – At an official ceremony held in the Armenian parliament on February 21, Speaker of the National Assembly Hovik Abrahamyan and USAID/Armenia Mission Director Karen Hilliard signed a Memorandum of Understanding, marking the beginning of a new year-long commitment whereby USAID will provide technical assistance to the Armenian parliament to improve its procedural operations, public outreach, and the informational, analytical and research capacities of National Assembly deputies and staff.

Darbas, Syunik – On February 20, the USAID Clean Energy and Water Program (CEWP) supported a community workshop in Syunik’s Darbas village to mark the successful completion of the energy efficient street-lighting project and present the results to other communities and organizations in the region. One of the major objectives of the event was to promote the replication of small-scale energy efficiency projects by communities and organizations by focusing on the financial benefits that energy saving technologies generate for users.

Yerevan, Armenia – On February 20, USAID and the National Competitiveness Foundation of Armenia (NCFA) signed an agreement under which USAID and the Government of Armenia will provide financial support to the Foundation to create a country brand for Armenia.
