On Monday, USAID and AAC-Lushnja were in Cukalat, Berat with olive growers, school students and local government representative, at a special activity to showcase the use of good practices in harvesting, transporting and processing of olive oil. Everyone also has a lesson from Albania Olive Oil Taste Panel on how to discern high quality extra virgin olive oil. Thank you to "Bujar" olive oil factory for hosting this special event!

USAID signed a follow on award with UNDP to continue Support for Territorial Administrative Reform, a multi-donor funded project to enhance efficiency and quality of local public services to the citizens, to increase financial efficiency and resources for the local government units, improve the mechanisms of representative democracy, and strengthen the instruments of direct democracy, and to operationalize TAR.

A conference on the decentralization of power was held in Tirana, jointly organized by Association for Local Autonomy and the Association of Albanian Municipalities, in partnership with USAID’s Planning and Local Governance Project (Tetra Tech ARD). According to news reports, Minister of Local Government Issues Bledar Çuçi said that the administrative-territorial reform was now a tangible reality, and that it was building a sound basis for the further advancement of the decentralization of power to the benefit of the local government units.

USAID signed a cooperative agreement with Creative Business Solutions for their new $1,410,000 project, SmartCapital, financed by through a cost share with USAID.
