USAID is helping Tunisia develop a transparent, inclusive, market-driven economy that strengthens job growth and global competitiveness.  In the coming year, USAID’s programs will continue to focus on private sector investment and growth, employment, policy and business reform, and the link between education and the job market.

Our impact in this sector since the Tunisia revolution in January 2011 includes:

  • Trained more than 3,000 youth in information and communications technology (ICT) skills and helped generate more than 600 jobs.
  • Launched a public-private partnership with Hewlett Packard (HP), the Government of Italy, and the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) as the implementing partner to provide entrepreneurship training and capacity building assistance to small- and medium-sized enterprise in four governorates. The project is expected to generate 2,000 direct, indirect and temporary jobs by the project’s end.
  • Helped the Tunisian government to meet its immediate fiscal financing needs and invest in economic growth and job creation initiatives through a $100 million cash transfer.
