The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) has awarded a new water and sanitation project in Timor-Leste. The Improving Community Resilience in Oecusse Project will assist 25 communities in 13 villages in the Municipality to have better access to clean, safe water, improve sanitation and hygiene practices, and strengthen community organizations to operate and maintain water and sanitation facilities. World Neighbors, an international non-governmental organization with experience in Oecusse, will conduct the three-year project.

Today, the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) awarded its new agriculture project in Timor-Leste. Recognizing the tremendous potential of rural communities as high quality fruit and vegetable producers, USAID welcomes Cardno Emerging Markets and its partners HIAM Health, The Norman Borlaug Institute for International Agriculture/Texas A&M AgriLife Research, and SSG Advisors as the implementers for USAID's Avansa Agrikultura (Advancing Agriculture) Project.

Yesterday, the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) partnered with the Coral Triangle Center (CTC) in Bali and the National Oceanic Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) International Marine Protected Area Capacity Building Program to launch a six-day training workshop for officials of the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries (MAF) to improve the protection of the country’s coastal and marine resources.
