The United States is providing people across the Eastern Province with better access to water for drinking and farming, launching three separate projects this week in Batticaloa and Ampara through its development arm, the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).
August 25, 2015: As President Sirisena said last Saturday at a land-return ceremony in Sampur, Trincomalee, Sri Lanka’s efforts has attracted support from the international community. The United States joined other international donors and will provide $1 million to support resettlement efforts in Sampur as part of its continuing commitment to strengthen Sri Lanka’s peace and development.
The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) in partnership with Building Solutions (Pvt.) Ltd. opened today a state-of-the-art factory in Nawagampura, Ampara. The opening was attended by Hon. Mangala Samaraweera, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Ms. Allison Areias, Chargé d’Affaires a.i. of the U.S. Embassy.
The United States inaugurated today a clean water assistance program for at-risk communities in the Batticaloa district. Government Agent for Batticaloa Ms. P.S.M. Charles also attended the ceremony.
