Leading apparel manufacturers and retail buyers, policy-makers, government officials, think tanks, business associations, and diplomats will gather at the Embassy of the Republic of Botswana, April 29, 2015 at 4:30PM for a reception featuring a status update on the renewal of the African Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA) and the upcoming pan-African apparel trade show, Source Africa.
Background
The Okavango River Basin is one of the world's largest inland water systems. This shared vital natural resource for the Southern African countries of Angola, Botswana and Namibia is a rich, but fragile source of biodiversity supporting the livelihoods of approximately one million people. USAID is working to ensure that there is a strong communications aspect to its work to raise awareness and increase participation in wildlife conservation.

The USAID-funded Building Local Capacity for the Delivery of HIV Services in Southern Africa Project (BLC), implemented by Management Sciences for Health (MSH), held a regional symposium from November 4-5, 2014 with the theme: The role of capacity building in enhancing the response of civil society organizations to HIV&AIDS and TB: The experiences of BLC and its partners.
Peanuts (known locally as “groundnuts”) are a strategic crop for improving small farmer incomes and food security in sub-Saharan Africa. However, a barrier to trade is contamination with aflatoxin, a carcinogenic mold that contributes to chronic health problems and food insecurity. As a result many markets have been closed to Zambian peanuts and the 500,000 households that grow them.
