Manzini, Swaziland – In a response to the high rate of AIDS deaths and pediatric HIV in Southern and Eastern Africa, the United States Government through the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) andmothers2mothers (m2m) launched a five-year regional partnership today at an event in Manzini, Swaziland.
USAID/Southern Africa signed a new $10.7 million cooperative agreement with the Association for Water and Rural Development (AWARD) to increase resiliency in the Olifants Catchment in the Limpopo River Basin.
Part of USAID’s larger Resilience in the Limpopo River Basin (RESILIM) program, RESILIM-Olifants complements broader, basin-wide work implemented by Chemonics International through a $14.6 million contract awarded in June.
USAID/Southern Africa, in collaboration with the Development Grants Program (DGP), awarded 2 million USD to the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) to support the three-year project: A Water Secure Future for Southern Africa: Applying the Ecosystem Approach in the Orange-Senqu Basin.
Johannesburg - Ten clean energy projects that could reduce greenhouse gas emissions across Africa by 287,000 metric tons annually were presented to investors in Johannesburg this week at the CTI PFAN African Forum for Clean Energy Financing. (AFRICEF).
