BACKGROUND

Enhancing Accountability and Responsiveness of Elected Officials in Serbia is a two-year direct grant implemented by the Center for Free Elections and Democracy (CeSID). The project brings citizens throughout Serbia in direct contact with their elected representatives at both the national and local levels and it creates opportunities to discuss issues of public importance.

BACKGROUND

USAID’s Women Education Center (WEC) is a two-year workforce development public-private partnership with Insert, Ltd., Everest, Ltd., and the Municipality of Ruma. The center provides vocational training to women to improve the quality of their skills to reflect the needs of industries in the Srem district.  By doing so, the center provides industries with a labor force that is able to meet market demands, providing for growth in export-oriented industries such a shoes, leather, and furniture.

BACKGROUND

Divac Youth Funds 2.0 is a two-year project implemented in partnership with the Ana and Vlade Divac Foundation. The program empowers youth to advocate for local resource mobilization and youth participation in local policy development.  This project builds on the success of the initial USAID-supported Divac Youth Fund project.

BACKGROUND

To bolster its economy and meet EU accession requirements, Serbia must restructure and privatize many of its state-owned enterprises. The Serbian Government’s program for companies in the restructuring process encompasses more than 500 companies in different phases of privatization. It is expected that approximately 30,000 workers will accept the program and take the severance pay (maximum amount 8,000 EUR). 

Vršac Celebrates the Completion of the First Phase in the Redevelopment of the Former “Army Club” Brownfield Site

VRŠAC – On June 12, 2015, the Mayor of Vršac Čedomir Živković, the U.S. Ambassador Michael D. Kirby, and the President of the NALED Managing Board Vladan Atanasijević attended a ceremony to mark the completion of the first phase in the redevelopment of the former “Army Club" Brownfield Site in Vršac.
