The six-year USAID Separation of Powers Project (SPP) was launched in 2008 to help Serbia move closer to European Union accession by strengthening the judicial and legislative branches of government.

The strategy, following Washington guidance, sets forth the path of the U.S. Agency for International Development’s (USAID) critical assistance delivery for Serbia in preparation of a possible last year of bilateral funding in FY 2017.  It conforms to and supports the goals of both the post’s draft Integrated Country Strategy (ICS) as well as those contained in the Joint Regional Strategy 2014-2016 of the State Department’s Bureau of European and Eurasian Affairs (EUR) and the USAID Europe and Eurasia (E&E) Bureau.  The strategy is aligned with host-country priorities, U.S.
