As part of the U.S. government’s continuing commitment to help the people of Leyte recover from the destruction caused by Typhoon Yolanda, the U.S. Embassy Manila’s United States Agency for International Development (USAID) turned over to Tacloban City the Rapid Feasibility Study for the Tacloban City North Bulk Water Supply Project. The turnover ceremony was led by Hon. Alfred Romualdez, Mayor of Tacloban City, and Ms. Gloria D. Steele, Mission Director of USAID Philippines.
On behalf of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), I would like to congratulate the Provincial Government of Leyte for the newly established Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office that will be inaugurated today. It is an honor to be here with you to celebrate this milestone as you work towards a climate resilient Leyte.
United States Ambassador Philip S. Goldberg led the inauguration of a climate-resilient school building and health facility, as well as 100 new sari-sari stores in Tacloban City. These projects are part of the U.S. government’s over Php6.3 billion ($143-million) Typhoon Yolanda assistance implemented through the U.S. Embassy Manila’s United States Agency for International Development (USAID) Rebuild project.
Representatives from the U.S. and Philippine governments and civil society organizations formally opened the Tebow CURE Hospital in Davao City, giving children with orthopedic conditions a chance for a better quality of life.
USAID is very honored to be part of the work that CURE International is doing at the Tebow CURE Hospital. We appreciate the support of Sacred Harvest and Tim Tebow who was born in the Philippines and is now an instrument to bring physical and spiritual healing to thousands of children.
