Deputy Chief of Mission Lawrence Gumbiner provided remarks at the closing ceremony of the workshop highlighting the importance of Peru’s processes to mainstream gender considerations in climate change and to guarantee that women and men can have access to, participate in and benefit equally from climate change initiatives. Mr. Gumbiner highlighted the USG's support to assist the Government of Peru in taking action on women’s leadership in the context of climate change.
Representatives from the Peruvian government, international cooperation agencies, NGOs, and indigenous organizations, among others participated in the workshop. They had an in-depth discussion on climate change and its impact on Peru, understand the links between gender and climate change, and provided inputs to the development of the plan.
