The Peru Cocoa Alliance received the award of ‘Personaje del 2015’ in the category International Cooperation for Regional Development in the San Martin Region. The election was conducted through an opinion poll involving important personalities of the San Martin Region. The Personaje del 2015 event, whose award ceremony was on Saturday May 2, is an initiative of Dr. Alberto Azáldegui Cruz, Dean of the Journalist School of San Martin and Director of the company Integral Strategic Communication.

"We are happy with what we have achieved in San Martin, where cocoa production reaches thousand kilos per hectare, and this puts the region in first place in the country with higher productivity, and this good result we owe to the farmers and to the United States Agency for International Development (USAID)", said Jose Iturrios, Director of the Peru Cocoa Alliance.

The Peru Cocoa Alliance seeks to improve the quality of life of small farmers in former coca regions, through fine flavor cocoa crops.
