Perú will have the VI Salón del Cacao y Chocolate Peru 2015, from July 2nd to 5th at the Convention Center of the Hotel Maria Angola in Miraflores, Lima, Peru.
This is the most important exhibition and sale space of this tasty food, and aims to integrate the different national and international operators in the value chain of Peruvian cocoa.
The launching ceremony was attended by Alberto Otárola, Chief Executive of the National Commission for Development and Life without Drugs (DEVIDA); Lawrence Gumbiner, Deputy Chief of the United States Embassy in Peru; Julio Eduardo Martinetti, Ambassador and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs; Alvaro Quiñe, representative of the Ministry of Agriculture and Irrigation (MINAGRI) and Director of Agrorural; Elena Guarin, Chief of the Cooperation Section of the European Union and Francisco Rivas, President of the Peruvian Association of Cocoa Producers (APPCACAO).
During the event Alvaro Quiñe estimated that at the end of this year, the cocoa production is expected to grow 15% and thus Peru would remain as the second largest exporter of organic cocoa.
The VI Salón del Cacao y Chocolate Peru 2015 is organized by different institutions chaired by APPCACAO, DEVIDA, MINAGRI, the Commission for the Promotion of Peru Export and Tourism (PromPeru), the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) in partnership with TECHNOSERVE (TNS), and Agronomists and Veterinarians Without Borders (AVSF).
