On July 10, 2014, acting USAID Mission Director Ted Gehr along with the local authorities in Bagua Grande, inaugurated the 4th edition of Expo Amazonica -- a fair showcasing the rich variety of products from the Amazon. Expo Amazonica 2014 featured 140 of the Peruvian agribusiness companies, promoting the commercial and productive exchange of the Amazon regions and its neighboring regions, that undoubtedly, will continue to mobilize the economy and the beautiful region and welfare of its population. According to preliminary figures from the organizers of Expo Amazonica 2014, businesses from the United States, Japan, Portugal, Canada and four Latin American countries, exceeded 4 million dollars in business with the producers of the Amazon regions. USAID contributes to the sustainable development of natural resources in the Amazon and supports Peru and the development of the Amazon and their social and economic integration.
