US Ambassador to Mozambique, Douglas Griffiths joined the Mozambican Attorney General, Dr. Augusto Paulino, to sign an agreement which will make the Attorneys General Office (PGR) more effective in controlling lawfulness and combatting corruption, building institutional credibility and citizen trust.
On July 29, 2013, USAID/Mozambique Mission Director, Alex Dickie, signed a funding agreement with the Faculty of Arts and Communication (ECA) of Eduardo Mondlane University.
The United States Ambassador to Mozambique, Douglas Griffiths and the Mozambican Minister of Education, Augusto Jone, launched today the project Aprender a Ler (Learning to read), which will be implemented in 120 schools in Zambezia and Nampula provinces, benefiting more than 46,000 children.
On May 2, 2013, Deputy Mission Director Polly Dunford represented USAID/Mozambique at the national dissemination of the final results from the 2011 Demographic and Health Survey (DHS), delivered by the National Institute of Statistics. Dr. João Dias Loureiro, President of the National Institute of Statistics and Mr. Marcelino Lucas, Permanent Secretary of the Mozambique’s Ministry of Health chaired the meeting.
On April 25th 2013 Mozambique celebrated World Malaria Day through an event, supported by the President’s Malaria Initiative, aimed at raising awareness of the impact that malaria has in people’s lives and the ways in which Mozambique and their citizens are working to prevent and treat malaria. Polly Dunford, USAID/Mozambique Deputy Mission Director, represented the U.S. Government.
