On July 29, 2013, USAID/Mozambique Mission Director, Alex Dickie, signed a funding agreement with the Faculty of Arts and Communication (ECA) of Eduardo Mondlane University.

This agreement aims to contribute to the improvement of the teaching and learning environment by providing modern equipment for the faculty's computer and broadcasting laboratories. In addition, it will also fund bibliographic material and computers for the library. USAID will also hire a professional consultant to support the installation of the equipment and relevant training of faculty employees.

USAID partnership with ECA began in 2010, with assistance in reviewing the journalism curriculum aimed at better responding to the current needs of the Media sector in Mozambique while reflecting the sector technologic evolution.

This project complements the support that USAID has been providing to the media sector in Mozambique since November 2012 with the launch of the Media Strengthening Project.
