
Raspberry production in Kosovo is booming, and the introduction of new varieties from USAID’s agriculture programs has significantly extended the growing season. New methods of growing, handling, packaging, and marketing have also increased crop yields, quality, market-reach, and price. On August 14th, Ambassador Delawie and his team were on hand at a Ferizaj raspberry orchard to celebrate this year’s successful raspberry crop, to meet with local farmers, and to join in the harvest. On August 17th, Acting Democracy and Governance Office Director Miranda Jolicoeur visited USAID projects and beneficiaries in eastern Kosovo. During their stay, she and her team visited the upgraded House of Culture building in Ranilug/Ranillug, where an exhibition of paintings by local youth was on display. They next stopped by a paper bag processing business in Partes/Partesh, where a demonstration of the packaging process was ongoing.
The Kosovo component of the 2016 CSO Sustainability Index (CSOSI) for Central and Eastern Europe and Eurasia was launched on August 11th.

The Justice System Strengthening Program (JSSP) and the Kosovo Judicial Academy (KJA) recently concluded an ambitious project to improve the quality of legal writing and judicial decisions by developing a legal writing handbook for judges.

USAID activities in northern Kosovo build connections among communities and work with the municipalities to help them provide improved services to their citizens.
