On August 17th, Acting Democracy and Governance Office Director Miranda Jolicoeur visited USAID projects and beneficiaries in eastern Kosovo. During their stay, she and her team visited the upgraded House of Culture building in Ranilug/Ranillug, where an exhibition of paintings by local youth was on display. They next stopped by a paper bag processing business in Partes/Partesh, where a demonstration of the packaging process was ongoing. A €22,500 AKT-LS business grant, together with the company’s cost share of €10,500, enabled them to expand their product line and create several new jobs. Also in Partes/Partesh, the team saw the new installation of LED lights, which have modernized and improved the quality of public lighting and lowered energy consumption in the municipality, benefitting almost 6,000 local citizens.
Finally the team stopped at a new Gjilan/Gnjilane kindergarten in the Dardani neighborhood, which will soon open its doors for 120 area children. This project was a partnership between the municipality of Gjilan/Gnjilane and USAID.
