SAN SALVADOR–The U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), under its Municipal Competitiveness Project, launched the "Business Ideas Competition," to support the development of new business ideas and expand small businesses.
The 40 business aspirants, who submitted ideas, will receive technical assistance to develop a business plan to start or expand those ideas in the market. In addition, the winners will receive a business development assessment, to link their business idea with existing financial and other development services in the area.
The U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), through its Improving Access to Employment Program, along with Fe y Alegria and the Salvadoran Professional Training Institute (INSAFORP) awarded certificates to 50 new guidance counselors, who were trained in the use of the specialized portal “Choosing my Future” www.elijomifuturo.com.
SAN SALVADOR–The U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), through its Improving Access to Employment Program, and the National Institute for Integral Rehabilitation (ISRI), opened a new center that will be used to certify people with disabilities seeking employment.
According to El Salvador’s Equal Opportunities Act, for every 25 employees a company must hire at least one person with a disability. The new unit will certify that a person has a physical disability to qualify within the Equal Opportunities Act.
SAN SALVADOR–The U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), together with the Foundation for Training and Assistance in Microfinance (FUNDAMICRO) and the Development Bank of El Salvador (BANDESAL) inaugurated the "First Regional Forum on Microinsurance: Experiences and Opportunities".
Through a unique U.S. government initiative to promote tax reform and sound financial management, 53 municipalities competed for grants that will be used for crime prevention activities.
